Janet "Sula" Evans

Sula Spirit...Medicine Queen, Singer, Songwriter, Entrepreneur, Artist, Author, Birth Doula, Healer and Priestess of Mami Wata.  Sula was initiated in Ghana, West Africa at the Shrine of Impohema in 2007 and given the title Okomfo Korkoi Ama Tawiah.  Sula has been a student of Yoruba, Ghanian and Vodun African Religious systems since 1985.  She is a native of New Jersey and has lived in New Orleans since 1996.


Sula Spirit holds a Bachelors degree in African Studies and English Literature from Rutgers University (1994).  She has traveled extensively throughout Africa and the Caribbean and has volunteered in Africa with Operation Crossroads Africa since 1992.  Sula Spirit is a singer/songwriter with the Reggae World beat band Zion Trinity and lead singer of the band Mojuba.  She is Author and Producer of the Book & CD Project "Spirit of the Orisha".  In addition, the Artist Sula is the proud co-owner of King & Queen Emporium Int'l. She is a Medicine Queen and member of the Queens of the Nation,  a proud Board Member of the Congo Square Preservation Society  and the HealHers Society of New Orleans. In addition,  Sula the Doula is a Birth Doula and Founding Director of the Na'Zyia Doula Collective. She is a Healer whose gift is reconnecting people with their Ancestors and Sacred Self.  Her shrine "The Shrine of the Holy Spirit" is located in the Musicians Village where her Ancestors reside as guides for her highest good.
